Our Services

We offer two types of participation: Dippers and Swimmers

Dippers: Getting Salty

Dippers are ocean lovers who want to explore and enjoy being in the ocean, but not necessarily want to swim the distance.

Our energizing “Getting Salty” program is an integral part of life at HALF MOON BAY OPEN WATER.

Simply enjoying yourself in the beautiful ocean is what we are all about.

Depending on your comfort level and skill set...

we can do some or all of the following:

  • A slow and calm entry for a cold water dip

  • Float, tread, and swim to get acclimated in the cold water

  • Play in the white waters

  • Swim along shore in the shallow for 5, 10 minutes or more

  • Practice entry and exit through the surf

Camp Package:

  • 7 sessions Open Water/$500 per person (or 1 session: $100 per person/hour)

  • max 2 swimmers per 1 guide

Location: Miramar Beach, Half Moon Bay

Gear: 2 pairs of googles (one clear and one tinted), ear plugs, bright swim cap

Optional: thermal cap, wetsuit, fins, gloves, booties

Swimmers: Becoming a mermaid/merman

With becoming a mermaid/merman, we will guide you as you develop your love for "wild" swimming. We can start with 20-30 minute swims along the shore. We can do longer swims (one hour max) if you are more capable and have acclimatized yourself to the cold water.

When you are ready and up for more challenging ocean conditions, we can help you grow your skills: sighting, swimming through chop and swell, and adapting to currents.

We offer a paddle escort and/or pace swim with you as you train for an open water event or a triathlon.

* This activity is for those who can swim at least 100 yards without stopping.

* Also, for those who wish to strengthen their swim techniques before venturing out into the ocean, we can provide one to one coaching at the local HMB pool: $50/30 minute session

Camp Package (This package is for competent swimmers):

  • 7 sessions Open Water/$500 per person (or 1 session: $100 per person/hour)

  • max 2 swimmers per 1 guide

Location: Miramar Beach, Half Moon Bay

Gear: 2 pairs of googles (one clear and one tinted), ear plugs, bright swim cap

Optional: wetsuit, thermal cap, gloves, booties, fins
